Visas

Participants requiring a visa to visit Poland are advised to apply for one at a Polish consulate well in advance.

Arriving by plane

The Frederic Chopin Airport is located
within the city limits, 10 km from the city center.

Bus lines 148, 175 and 188 connect the airport with the nearby residential districts and the city center. The bus stop is located just outside the arrivals hall.
to the conference site: line 175to stop UNIWERSYTET (~35’), then walk (13’) or line 175 to central railway station, stop DW. CENTRALNY (~26’), then line 127 to stop BIBLIOTEKA UNIWERSYTECKA (~15’),
to your hotel: line 175 takes you to downtown hotels (e.g. Polonia Palace, Metropol, Novotel, Bristol, Sofitel Victoria, Harenda, Ibis Stare Miasto, Mecure Grand, Dom Chłopa); Sokrates guesthouse can be reached by line 175 or 188 to stop SASANKI (~6’) and then by line 189 to stop AL. LOTNIKÓW (~10’); Hera guesthose can be reached e.g. by line 188 to stop METRO POLITECHNIKA and then by line 519 to stop SPACEROWA; however, taxi is recommended in the last two cases.
Tickets (valid for all Wasaw buses, trams and S2 trains) can be purchased at the vending machines (English instructions available) and at newsstands. 40-min/60-min/3-day tickets cost 4.60/6.40/48 PLN.
Taxi stand is available just outside the arrivals hall. Use certified companies (with a phone number on a car or “radio taxi”). A typical rate is ~3 PLN per km, with 50% late-night and weekend surcharge. Do not use transportation offered by unauthorized persons. A trip to the city center costs ~40 PLN.
Trains S2 depart from a station located to the right of the arrivals hall, behind a construction site. Tickets are available from vending machines; there is staff on duty to help you with the purchase and transfer. Trains run to the city center: central railway station, stop WARSZAWA ŚRÓDMIEŚCIE or WARSZAWA CENTRALNA (24’)

Main railway station, WARSZAWA CENTRALNA, is located in the strict city center.

to conference site: line 127 direction MARIENSZTAT, stop BIBLIOTEKA UNIWERSYTECKA (~15’)
to your hotel: line 175 to many downtown hotels (e.g. Sofitel Victoria, Mercure Grand, Harenda, Ibis Stare Miasto, Dom Chłopa)

Taxi stand is located outside the station, follow the signage on platforms and underground passages. Use only certified companies (with a phone number on the car or “radio taxi”), make sure that the ride is metered
and check the rates (must be displayed in the car).
Walk. Many downtown hotels (e.g. Novotel Centrum, Metropol, Polonia Palace) are within walking distance.
